Call for Designers for Dance

The Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance is holding auditions for The NEXT Dance Company Concert. Student work will be shown. Designers are encouraged to attend. The audition is an opportunity to see dance pieces and then contact choreographers for potential collaboration on a fully produced concert. The NEXT Dance Company Concert will be presented here at CalArts in the Sharon Disney Lund Dance Theater. Selected works from The NEXT Dance Company will go to REDCAT. See schedule below.

Actorfest LA

Just a reminder that Actorfest LA is right around the corner on November 14th at the California Market Center in Los Angeles. Actorfest is a free event. For free you can attend the exhibit hall, networking cafe, and casting calls with Disney and NBC/Telemundo. We also have a great line up of workshops with top casting directors, agents and managers. For students at Cal Arts we have set up a 15% discount if they would like to attend the workshops. Use PROMO15 when registering for Actorfest LA.

Hellzapoppin’ Coming to the MOD in November

Where: Walt Disney Modular Theater

Hellzapoppin’, a dark comedy written and directed by Robert Cucuzza will be performed in the Modular Theater. Inspired by the 1941 film Hellzapoppin’, Cucuzza’s version imagines vaudeville team Olsen and Johnson dropped unceremoniously into the intense eye of the film production storm. Their ideas are plundered, their routines met with silence, their personas reconfigured and their friendship put to the test. Robert Cucuzza, a 2011 Directing MFA candidate, leads the ensemble of 16 performers through this explosive and absurd production. The theatrical designs fuse together old Hollywood, vaudeville and the present day to literally bring down the house.
